Special Events & More in the West End
The City of Vancouver’s annual Keep Vancouver Spectacular (KVS) campaign, the West End Cleanup is on May 25, 2013. It's a joint initiative between the West End BIA and volunteer group West End Cleanup, bringing businesses and residents together to cleanup and tidy up the West End. It’s a chance to give back to the community, share in the spirit of working together and feeling pride in our neighbourhood and our City. The cleanup will draw awareness to issues of litter and graffiti and we hope to inspire future cleanup initiatives.
Keep The West End Spectacular
The sidewalks and parking areas around your business are part of your business. These areas make an important impression on your customers. Let’s make it a good one!
Join our team for The West End Cleanup on Saturday, May 25th at 10am. Sign up today at westendcleanup@gmail.com or phone 604-603-2397.
We are partnering with:
• City of Vancouver (host of the month long Keep Vancouver Spectacular campaign)
• West End Cleanup (volunteer resident group)
• West End Coal Harbour Community Police Centre
• Gordon Neighbourhood House
This is a terrific opportunity to meet other businesses and potential new customers, while also helping your community shine.
We’ll be meeting at the Gordon Neighbourhood House at 10am on Saturday May 25th, 1019 Broughton Street (at Comox). There will be a post-cleanup BBQ for volunteers at 1pm.
Please contact Laurie McGrath at l.mcgrath@westendbia.com or 604.696.0144 if you have any questions or can support the post-cleanup BBQ

The West End is one of the more diverse neighbourhoods in Vancouver and Car Free Day gets us all out on the street: young, old, families, couples, single folks. We all get together and celebrate our community and the things we love about it. And no cars makes it even funner! Did we mention all the music is acoustic? Oh ya!!!!
Date: Sunday, June 16th, 2013 (Father’s Day)
Location: We’ll be celebrating on Denman Street between Davie & Robson
Time: Festival runs from noon to 6 pm and the street is closed from 10 am to 8 pm
If you are a business, non-profit organization or artisan and want to be involved with this year’s Car Free Vancouver Day in the West End, please fill out this participation form and an organizer will be in touch.

Celebration of Light - July 27, July 31, and Aug. 3, 2013
Celebration of Light to put colour in Vancouver’s skies
Spectators encouraged to plan routes, use transit
The 2013 Honda Celebration of Light will illuminate the skies above English Bay
starting Saturday night and once again the City of Vancouver is working with agency
and event partners to remind residents and spectators about vehicle access, safety,
transit options and ways to have a great time enjoying the three nights of fireworks.
During the Honda Celebration of Light performances on July 27, July 31, and Aug. 3,
thousands of spectators will gather on English Bay and Kits beaches to watch the shows.
Parking and vehicle access will be limited in neighbourhoods around the viewing areas
so spectators are encouraged to use public transit, walk or cycle.
