Celebrate BC Buy Local Week in the West End: Shop Small, Earn Big!
BC Buy Local Week is back from December 2nd to 8th, 2024, and it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions that local businesses make to our community. From offering unique products to creating jobs and supporting local causes, these businesses are the heart of B.C.’s vibrant economy. This week is all about shining a spotlight on the locally owned businesses and homegrown products that make our province—and the West End—so special.
Why Shop Local?
Did you know that during the holidays, the average Canadian spends about $1,600 on travel, food, drinks, and gifts? BC Buy Local Week encourages all of us to shift just 1% of that spending—about $15—to local businesses or locally made products. By doing so, we keep more money circulating in our communities, which means better jobs and stronger neighbourhoods.
Shop Small, Earn Big in the West End!
To celebrate, we’re thrilled to bring back our Shop Small, Earn Big campaign. Here’s how it works:
- Spend $20 or more at participating businesses on December 6th and 7th and receive $10 in WE Spend Local Dollars OR spend $40 or more and receive $20 in WE Spend Local Dollars on December 6th and 7th.
It’s a win-win! You get rewarded for supporting local businesses, and you can use your WE Spend Local Dollars to discover even more of what the West End has to offer. But don’t wait—WE Spend Local Dollars must be used by December 31st, 2024.

How WE Spend Local Dollars Work:
- No cash value: They can’t be redeemed for cash or used for restricted purchases (like tobacco or lottery tickets).
- No change given: Be sure to use the full value on your purchase!
- Restrictions: Participating businesses may add their own limitations, so check before you shop.
- Expiration: Spend Local Dollars must be used by December 31st, 2024.
