Rainbow Concert Band

The Rainbow Concert Band of Vancouver, British Columbia, was founded in 1990 following the inspiration of Gay Games III and the performance by the Lesbian and Gay Band Association. Soon after, local musicians organized Canada’s first—and still only—gay and lesbian concert band.

Its debut performance, Safe Sex: The Concert, took place in 1991, and the band has been active ever since.

The group provides a safe, supportive musical environment for LGBTQ2S+ community members and allies to rehearse and perform together.
