Larger and more creative than ever!

When it launched in 2011, The Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival was the first city-wide initiative in the world to use the hot chocolate beverage as a way to support small, local businesses.  

This January the Festival returns for its 13th year in support of three local charity organizations. Larger and more creative than ever, The GVR Hot Chocolate Festival features our region’s best chocolatiers, pastry shops, bakeries, cafes and ice cream makers — all joining forces to make the humble hot chocolate hotter than it has ever been before. Read below to see which West End businesses are participating in the 2023 Hot Chocolate Festival, running from January 14th until February 14th.

#15 –  PURPLE DREAM

Available January 14 – February 14, 2023

White Chocolate and Ube gelato is made by mixing our Filipino ube paste with Michel Cluziel Elianza 33% Ivory chocolate to create this unique hot chocolate.  We slow cook the ube until it becomes smooth with no clumps and then we melt it inside the hot chocolate. The drink will come with whipped cream on top.

On the side: cannoli filled with coconut gelato.

#16 –  CHERRY BOMB

Available January 14 – February 14, 2023

Dark Chocolate with Amarena Cherry is made by mixing our sweet and tart amarena cherries with Michel Cluziel 63% Dark Chocolate to create this unique hot chocolate drink.  It will be topped with whipped cream and an amarena cherry drizzle.

On the side: cannoli filled with dark chocolate sorbetto .

#17 –  PICANTE CHOCOLATE

Available January 14 – February 14, 2023

Milk Chocolate with Tumeric, Ginger & Cayenne pepper is made by mixing our triple spice mix with Michel Cluziel 45% Milk Chocolate to create this unique hot chocolate drink.

On the side: cannoli filled with Madagascar vanilla gelato.

#120 – PINEAPPLE LUMPS

Inspired by the popular New Zealand confection, this hot chocolate is made from dark chocolate and pineapple juice, topped with whipped cream and our house made chocolate-dipped pineapple lumps. 

#121 – ICED VOVO

Available January 14 – February 14, 2023

Based on the traditional Australian biscuit, this white chocolate, coconut and raspberry hot chocolate is topped with whipped cream and a house made, iced Vovo biscuit.
