Ready To Play in the West End?
Whether you’re lucky enough to have tickets to a match or simply want to be part of the excitement, the West End is embracing the spirit of a global summer of soccer with a series of fun, community-focused installations throughout the neighbourhood.
A-maze-ing Laughter: Game On
Starting at English Bay, the iconic A-maze-ing Laughter sculptures have received a playful soccer-inspired makeover with team jerseys, scarves, soccer balls and trophies. The installation offers a unique photo opportunity and a chance to celebrate the energy and excitement that the big tournament is bringing to Vancouver! We’re also hosting a West End prize pack valued at $700 to encourage locals and visitors to head down to the West End. Check out our Instagram post for the details.
The West End Lounge
Right next to the A-maze-ing Laughter statues at 1800 Davie Plaza, a vibrant new gathering space has been brought to life with colourful picnic tables, umbrellas, and planters—perfect for relaxing, grabbing takeout, meeting friends, or catching a sunset over English Bay. The picnic tables even feature built-in tic-tac-toe games, so you can grab some game pieces and enjoy a match with one of the best views in the city. To top it all off, the ground mural has been freshly repainted by our friends at Drip and Roll, just in time for summer!
Ready to Play at Jim Deva Plaza and Nations on Display at Robson & Cardero
As you stroll through the neighbourhood, keep an eye out at Jim Deva Plaza and along Robson and Cardero. Jim Deva Plaza has a fun display with a mix of hanging soccer balls and flags. And, over at Robson and Cardero suspended amongst the trees are row upon row of the country flags for the 9 competing teams playing in Vancouver.
