Rice Batter — a Soft & Crunchy Texture
Sean Lee, CEO, filled in the details for us. “We knew Chungchun Rice Dog was an instant sensation in South Korea, so we wanted to bring it to Canada. We opened our first location in 2019 in Toronto and we immediately had line ups! Since then, over 50 locations have launched across Canada, including Vancouver,” Lee said.
Korean-style hotdogs are dipped in batter and cooked on a stick. Add a layer of custom toppings and pick a sauce. “A Korean ‘hot dog’ is a completely different experience,” Lee explained. “Chungchun Rice Dogs have a crispy exterior, chewy dough, and a stretchy mozzarella cheese pull. It’s a texture and flavour combo that’s hard to describe, but unforgettable once you’ve tried it. Your Rice Dog comes with fun toppings to choose from, like diced potato, sweet potato, ramen chips, cornflakes, and we have a range of unique sauces, too.”
Chungchun Rice Dogs are coated in a proprietary rice-flour batter, rather than wheat or corn. Batter is prepared fresh every day and goes through an intense multi-hour fermentation process. The menu includes vegetarian options and side dishes — and don’t forget the sweet-tooth, all-chocolate dessert dog.
