We asked Dae Bak Bon Ga manager, Hans Kim, what makes the restaurant special. “We’re the biggest Korean BBQ restaurant in the area, so we’re a favourite for convention attendees, corporate lunches, or large family dinners. We use our own treasured family recipes for flavours that bring a steady stream of visitors from Washington State to L.A. and of course, from Vancouver, too.”
“Traditionally, Lunar New Year is a time for families to gather for some great food. We love being part of the holiday celebrations — when the food is excellent and karaoke fun is available for everyone in the family. We have an all-you-can-eat menu, as well as a la carte. Our karaoke rooms are half-price for the first hour, after having a meal in our main dining room,” Kim said.
Thin-Sliced Pork Belly on the BBQ
Dae Bak Bon Ga is a family-run restaurant where each table has a center BBQ grill for cooking thinly sliced pork belly or Bulgogi beef marinated in sweet garlic soy sauce. Vegetable side dishes, rice, and soups complement the barbequed meat flavours, creating an irresistible aroma and a satisfying meal. Cold sides include kimchi, bean sprouts, spicy cucumber, and marinated potatoes. Hot sides include dumplings, Japchae noodles, vegetable pancakes, and miso soup. You can order your pork belly plain, marinated, or spicy — garlic pepper, lemon pepper, or steak seasoning.
“We have many menu options,” Kim said. “Our all-you-can-eat menu is really popular, and our deluxe and BBQ-combo specials have favourites like shrimp and mussels. We have hot noodle dishes, Korean cold broth noodle, and Korean stews.”
Karaoke party rooms are rented by the hour with state-of-the-art equipment and food and beverage service, so the fun with friends, family, or your colleagues keeps going. Kim described the set-up, “We have a special menu for our karaoke rooms. Lots of finger foods that are easy to eat, and Korean classics like Spicy Ramen with Beef Shortplate Brisket, Marinated Pan-Fried Squid, and Deep-Fried Shrimp.”
