A Trusted B.C. Credit Union in Our Backyard

Gulf & Fraser has been helping British Columbians achieve their financial goals for over 80 years. Right from the beginning, Gulf & Fraser looked to the stability and vision of each of its members as its reason for being. Community participation for the benefit of all is the heartbeat of what makes Gulf & Fraser a special part of BC’s credit union history.

Expanding Financial Partnership in the West End and Beyond

We stopped in to talk with Shayla McIntyre, Branch Manager at the West End location. She explained how some recent changes at Gulf & Fraser were shaping up for increased services for existing credit union members.

“Recently, our network expanded to 53 branches connecting all corners of the province. Now, whether our members are travelling for business or leisure, their daily banking services will be close by,” McIntyre told us.

“Financial empowerment has always been our goal for our members. Gulf & Fraser started when a group of workers from the West Coast’s fishing industry got together. Our neighbourly, grassroots attitude started from day one, and we’re excited that expanding our reach as a provincial credit union means bringing financial wellness to 160,000 members,” McIntyre continued.

Inclusivity & Helpfulness Build Financial Strength & Security

A visit to the Denman Street branch, directly across from Denman Mall and Shoppers’ Drug Mart, quickly shows the way Gulf & Fraser builds inclusivity into its interactions. The branch has a bright and friendly set up, inviting service-based conversation to help members achieve home-ownership, retirement planning, education savings — everything needed to accomplish individual financial wellness goals.

“We’re focused on our personalized service in-branch, and Gulf & Fraser also offers digital financial services and education resources through our website. Our team works hard to ‘power your possible’ by making sure we have everything members need to reach their financial goals. We pride ourselves in having the tools and resources to support each member’s success.

“Personally, I take empowering our community as part of my responsibility as a Branch Manager. This past year, I’ve presented financial literacy and fraud protection seminars at the West End Seniors’ Network and Gordon Neighbourhood House,” McIntyre told us.
