“We’re really intentional at Hook. We have a relaxed, party vibe, and it’s the real thing because we’re into getting the details right. Our location is amazing and we’re proud to be privately owned. It means we have a family feel that extends to everyone who comes in. We’re a safe place — we have LGBTQ+ live events and we’re a neighbourhood hang-out where everyone feels at home,” Boston Greenhough, General Manager, explained Hook’s West End success.
“I’m from the West Coast of Vancouver Island and I feel like Hook’s the place to get that laid back feeling, with ocean-fresh seafood,” Greenhough explained. “Our location sets the tone. Our patio has slider doors that open completely when the weather’s good. We have a pool table ready to go, as you grab a beer-on-tap and unwind by the beach. Our sunsets are legendary. The team keeps the good feelings going from lunchtime through to late evening drinks with share plates.”

Hook takes its intentionality to a higher level by contributing to the Ocean Wise Conservation Association. Their active values extend to shoreline protection and sustainably-sourced seafood. “We feel like our heart comes through if we’re true to the environment. We’re a place for spectacular seafood, but we’re also a fun place that values people and the traditional territory our restaurant is located on. Caring about each other fits with a great meal and oceanside fun with friends,” Greenhough said.
Hook’s step-up dining room complements lounge seating, an oyster bar, and their expansive front patio. Everything from breads to marinades are made in-house. The Shipwreck Caesar features prawn and crab, while a Hook, Line & Sinker offers a trio-shooter with fresh oysters. Try a traditional Bellini or a signature happy-hour Smokey Watermelon Soda Slush. Start with Calamari or sesame-crusted Ahi Tuna Tataki, before digging into an ocean-fresh order of beer-battered cod and chips.
