There’s a hopping nightspot in Davie Village, in a building steeped in city history. Numbers Cabaret at 1042 Davie is an old-school gay bar centred around having fun with friends. Inside the historic building, the tradition of a club humming with Vancouver’s LGBTQIA2S+ community continues.
Mojo for Your Dance Moves
Owner, John Clerides, points out the 19th century charm in what was originally built as a rooming house in Vancouver’s 1890’s heyday. “We have 3 separate areas, because of the floorplan,” Clerides explained. “We have ‘The Pit’ for intimate groups — it’s perfect for a gathering of friends with your own private bartender. When you go down the stairs, you see the original granite rocks used to secure the foundation, back in the day. When we renovated, we kept the character of the building’s history — wainscoting, original stained glass, stunning old-growth fir flooring.”
“But the point to the place isn’t how it looks, it’s how it makes you feel,” Clerides continued. “Numbers is a place to have fun after 9pm. We’re the kind of club that welcomes everyone — the party’s here. We’re relaxed, having drinks with friends, enjoying the tunes, taking in some entertainment — Numbers is both chill and excited. No stress or hype, just a safe space in the downtown neighbourhood we love. Numbers remembers what the gay club scene was like in Vancouver. We keep that joy alive, Thursday through Sunday, as well as for private bookings — and it’s fantastic! Our community here in the West End is unique in North America and Numbers is at the heart of it.”

The bar selection is jazzed up with customizable cocktails, many with international origins. Sekanjebin vodka comes from the only Canadian distribution source, and the Persian-style pomegranate cocktails pair perfectly with a burger.
An Evening with Friends
Numbers serves drinks from “The Loft” with a DJ and over-100-person capacity. The main bar is street level, with a large dance floor and oversized, street-level windows that slide open for a fresh-air infusion. If you want a quiet conversation with a friend, there’s a perfect spot near the century-old fireplace. Numbers’ outside patio at the back is the neighbourhood’s best-kept secret. It’s exposure gives all-day sunshine and it can be booked for private events and hot, summer drag shows.
Tequila shots are a bar favourite, and a Jalapeno-Chile Margarita will put a spin in your steps. Limoncello Spritz, a glass of bubbly to celebrate, or a Passionista Mocktail with passion fruit, raspberry, and lime — there’s something delicious to wet your whistle once you’re off the dance floor.
