Chef-Owner, Eric Lee, stopped in the middle of a busy day to tell us about his journey back to the West End. “My brother and I owned Damso on Denman, so I know the West End well. One thing led to another, and I opened a restaurant in Burnaby. It was great, but I missed the action of downtown Vancouver, so I hunted for a spot to lease. The night before we were scheduled to move in, I got a call — there was a problem with the existing tenants and they wouldn’t be leaving! A complete nightmare because we had to find a different space to rent.
“A great spot on Davie was available. I wanted to create a menu to fill a gap, not just the same food choices already in the ‘hood. I hit on a chill context for a cozy space in Davie Village. I was sure it would be perfect for a comforting and delicious steak sandwich menu — and we haven’t looked back since!” Lee said.

The original Stackhouse Steak Sandwich is brimming with medium-rare flat-iron beef that’s slow-cooked at a low temperature for eight hours. This sous vide process highlights the cut’s flavour, while it develops sublime tenderness. Melt in your mouth steak on a bun prepped by a top Vancouver bakery and popped in the oven daily for maximum freshness.
