Great Sushi is Pulling into the West End
Bullet-train sushi was a phenomenon many remember fondly. A new Japanese restaurant at 1047 Denman Street tweaked the concept of a circling train of sushi and created a delightful table delivery experience. With a combination of fully-automated bullet- train shuttle service, point and click ordering, and games to create a sense of fun, Sushi Aboard offers a unique ‘wow’ factor to Vancouver’s sushi scene.
A Fun & Efficient Dining Experience
Owner Jimmy Wang opened Sushi Aboard at the beginning of the pandemic — a tough time to be a new restaurant built on a unique experience at the table. Word-of-mouth chatter over its innovative concept, combined with a dynamic chef’s twist on the standard sushi menu meant that, against the odds, Sushi Aboard gained momentum quickly and hasn’t looked back since.
“We built a dining experience that’s new and fresh, giving a practical application for the merger of food service and technology. We focused on developing the best menu, efficient attention to detail, and customer service excellence. There’s a sense of autonomy and fun that naturally happens when you can control your ordering experience, even ordering small plates one at a time. Delivery is fast and personalized to your table, straight from our sushi kitchen. The normal restaurant service delays and over-handling of dishes is eliminated, and we’ve built in a fun set of ipad-games our customers get to play as part of the ordering process,” Wang explained to us.
For the Kid in All of Us
“I remember when I was young and how much I loved travelling through Asia with my family. Japanese food was always my favourite. At Sushi Aboard, we’ve created fantastic special rolls with fresh ingredients and homemade sauces. We also have maki rolls, sashimi, nigiri, soup, and salads. Our lunch-time bento boxes are really popular and they’re a great value in an efficient, lunchtime sit-down location for locals. Our party trays are also a great value and perfect for take-out,” Wang went on to explain to us.
“Our crispy fried chicken karaage is a customer favourite, and we have a good variety of donburi — it’s such a great comfort dish with so many tasty options like beef or chicken teriyaki, chirashi, and tofu. Because of the way our dishes are served and how much fun it is for kids, families are coming here to celebrate birthdays. It’s a special joy to watch the sense of wonder on kids’ faces as their table’s train arrives.”
Innovative Service with the Freshest Ingredients
