As the West End community enters our 4th week physical distancing – so against our nature – we wanted to get more social with everyone.

Our primary focus over the past month has been to inform you and to showcase how some of our businesses have pivoted to respond to these unprecedented times. Some are providing your daily essentials. Others have reinvented themselves. Many were forced to close completely.

We are pivoting to take a deeper dive into what makes our West End neighbourhood so special. Beyond the proximity to beaches, parks and downtown the West End is at its core about people: What we care about; What inspires and motivates us; What connects us to each other.

Therefore, WEBIA is proud and excited to be launching the #WEAre Campaign today

The #WEAre campaign is essentially our way of strengthening and showcasing our social connections. This will be a call to the community to share what is important to you in this defining/redefining moment.

Each Monday, we’ll be revealing a new word or phrase generated by the West End community that reflects our collective mood. With this spirit in mind, we thought it was only fitting that we began with the phrase #WEAre Together.

We’ll be sharing related stories and highlights from our community through video, blog posts and other social media features:

  • From the Clean Team that is still working hard to keep our neighbourhood looking good;
  • The business owners who are facing unimaginable challenges;
  • The health care heroes who are based in our neighbourhood; and
  • The local West End Seniors’ Network, QMUNITY, Gordon Neighbourhood House and other groups helping some of our most vulnerable neighbours during this time.

We’ll be showcasing them all and bringing attention to those special individuals working so hard to keep the West End the best place to live, work and physical distance

WEBIA will be offering opportunities for you to provide input into our campaign. We will make things more exciting by creating fantastic prizes along the way (we all need a little bit of cheer after all)!

This will be a great time to engage with us online.

You can also share your own ‘WE Story’ or that of a friend, relative or colleague by emailing Kelsey at k.malden@westendbia.com.

Stay tuned for further announcements on the #WEAre Campaign including virtual event dates, a new take-out initiative for our restaurants and so much more.

Until then, stay strong and remember: #WEAre Together.
