The West End Business Improvement Association (WEBIA) is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Marketing and Events Assistant to join our team. This role will primarily involve supporting the marketing and placemaking team in planning, organizing, and executing various marketing campaigns and events during our peak summer season from May to September.


Assist in the implementation of marketing strategies to promote events, plaza programming and campaigns across various channels, including social media, email, print, and digital advertising.
Help maintain and update the WEBIA’s website and social media platforms with unique and engaging content.
Support the planning, execution, and promotion of internal and external events, such as member networking events and the Annual General Meeting, as well as signature festivals like Honda Celebration of Light, Evo Summer Cinema, Pride and Lumiere.
Communicate with event producers and various groups activating in WEBIA’s two public plazas regarding logistics, promotion etc.
Assist in the creation and distribution of marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, posters, advertisements and presentations.
Engage with the WEBIA’s member businesses and property owners regarding information and participation opportunities for upcoming events and campaigns.
Provide general and administrative support to the marketing and placemaking teams as needed.


Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or related field or a combination of experience and education.
Previous experience in marketing, events coordination, or related roles is preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with marketing tools and platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Google Analytics, and social media management tools is an asset.
Creativity and attention to detail, with a passion for marketing and events.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Knowledge of event planning principles and practices is a plus.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
Must have own laptop.

The WEBIA is a non-profit society created in 1999 to support local economic development. The initial catchment area for the BIA was three blocks along Davie Street known as Davie Village. In 2007, the BIA expanded to include 21 blocks and approximately 650 businesses and property owners along Davie, Denman, and Robson Streets. The WEBIA is governed by a volunteer board of directors, which are elected from the businesses and property owners within or boundaries.

The mission of the WEBIA is to champion the interests and collective success of the local business community through impactful branding, marketing, placemaking, advocacy and strategic partnerships.

The Marketing and Events Assistant is a temporary, full-time position (37.5 hours/week) starting in June through to the end of August.
