Experience the Artistry of Elevated Grooming
There’s jazz music playing and motivational podcast interviews on the TV. Old time barber chairs sit along the length of the compact shop, with a brick feature wall reminiscent of the origins of Vancouver. We asked owner, Soheil Javani, about his vision for Hestory and where the barber shop’s unique name came from.
“Everyone has a story. A history. A Hestory. I have one, too. After moving to Canada, I visited Vancouver for the first time. I was living in Toronto at the time, and I was stunned by Vancouver’s beauty and its sense of opportunity. After one visit, I packed up and drove across the country.
“I found a retail space that hadn’t been used in years, just off of Denman Street, close to the entrance to Stanley Park on Georgia. I loved it. I could imagine how it would hum as a community barber shop. It took a lot of elbow grease and my best interior design instincts to create the space our clients enjoy today,” Javani said.
Everything Men’s Hair & Beard Care
Low taper drop cuts, classic cuts, buzz cuts — beard trims, hot towel shaves — there’s something to make every guy feel his best. “There’s no one closer to our customers than we are,” Javani explained. “It’s a really intimate and trusting relationship, between a barber and a client. We take this relationship very seriously. It’s not only about the cut or shave, it’s about the environment and the barber’s character. We have a bond, a sort of emotional connection, with our customers. There’s a throughline of respect and we love being the place our customers rely on, right here in our West End ‘hood.”
Hestory’s website is full of pictures where you can find the latest styles and a flattering cut. You can make an appointment online or by phone, and walk-ins are always welcome. Evening hours are available and the Hestory team of barbers treats every customer like one of the family. Relax into an old school barber chair, feel the warm towel do the heavy lifting of stress relief, and know you’ll walk out the door feeling like the man you know you are.
Tradition Meets Innovation at the Barber Shop
Hestory is a place where men’s grooming is the focus, where the atmosphere is friendly and rugged, where you know that the cut you receive will come with expertise on trends, face shape, hair texture —a great line beard trim and a precise look of class. Drop by this week, look for them around the corner at 1782 Alberni Street, a block south of Georgia, just off Denman. As Javani says, “A good barber’s hard to find; a great barber’s a unicorn.”
